The Everest Panorama Trek is one of the best short treks in the Everest region, perfect for those who wish to witness the beauty of Mount Everest without committing to a long and demanding expedition. This scenic journey is also widely known as the Everest Sunrise Trek or Everest View Trek.

The adventure begins with a thrilling mountain flight to Lukla Airport, one of the most exciting airstrips in the world. From Lukla, the trail follows the beautiful Dudh Koshi Valley, passing through the charming village of Phakding before ascending to Namche Bazaar, famously known as the “Sherpa Capital” and the main trading hub of the Everest region.

One of the major highlights of this trek is the hike to the Everest Viewpoint at Syamboche, which offers breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views of Mount Everest and surrounding Himalayan giants. The trek continues to the beautiful village of Tengboche, the final destination of the journey. Tengboche is home to the renowned Tengboche Monastery, the largest Buddhist monastery in the Everest region. If you trek in November, you may have the opportunity to witness the vibrant Mani Rimdu Festival, a unique cultural celebration. Tengboche is also one of the finest places to enjoy stunning sunrise and sunset views over the Himalayas.

The Everest Panorama Trek is a comfortable teahouse-style trek, with well-established local lodges offering good facilities, including food, accommodation, electricity, and internet services. Along the way, you will cross the famous Dudh Koshi River and the iconic Hillary Bridge, adding more excitement to the journey.

The best seasons for the Everest Sunrise Trek are spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November), when the weather is clear and the mountain views are at their best. The trek can also be done in winter (December to February) with proper preparation. However, trekking during the monsoon season (June to August) is not recommended due to unstable weather and limited visibility.

Important Note

  1. This trek reaches elevations above 4,000 meters, so proper acclimatization is essential to avoid altitude sickness.
  2. Good physical fitness and prior hiking experience are highly recommended.
  3. Weather in the Everest region can change rapidly, and flight delays to/from Lukla Airport are common. Please keep 1–2 extra buffer days in Kathmandu.
  4. Follow your guide’s instructions at all times for safety and altitude management.
  5. Travel insurance covering high-altitude trekking and emergency helicopter evacuation is mandatory.
  6.  Accommodation and facilities in remote mountain areas are basic but clean and comfortable.
  7. Walking hours range from 5–7 hours per day on varied terrain, including steep ascents and descents.
  8. Carry only essential items; porters have weight limits.
  9. Respect local culture, traditions, and the natural environment of Sagarmatha National Park.
  10. Trek itineraries may change due to weather, health conditions, or unforeseen circumstances for your safety.

Trip Itinerary

Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, where a Glacier Nepal Treks representative will warmly welcome you and transfer you to your hotel by private vehicle. After a short rest, you will meet your trekking guide at our office. You can ask any questions you may have about the trek, and the guide will provide detailed answers and information. Overnight stay at the hotel.

It’s about a 35-minute scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, one of the most thrilling mountain airstrips in the world. During the flight, you can enjoy breathtaking aerial views of the Himalayan range. After landing and having breakfast in Lukla, we organize our gear and begin the trek. The trail gradually descends toward Thadokoshi, passing through beautiful pine forests and small Sherpa settlements. Along the way, you’ll enjoy impressive views of Kusum Kanguru rising dramatically above the valley. We then continue walking alongside the rushing waters of the Dudh Koshi River, crossing suspension bridges and passing mani stones and prayer wheels before reaching the peaceful village of Phakding. Overnight stay at Phakding.

After breakfast, we begin our trek, gradually making our way toward Banker while enjoying beautiful views of Thamserku rising majestically above the valley. Today, we officially enter Sagarmatha National Park, the protected region that is home to the Everest Himalayas. Crossing several thrilling suspension bridges along the Dudh Koshi River, we continue our steady climb through pine forests and charming Sherpa villages. As we ascend higher, we are rewarded with our first glimpse of Mount Everest. If luck is on our side, we might even spot a rare red panda along the trail. By late afternoon, we reach Namche Bazaar, the vibrant gateway to Everest, where we stay overnight.

Namche Bazaar is the gateway to Everest and the largest village in the Khumbu region, serving as the main trading and cultural hub for trekkers and locals alike. To help with acclimatization, we hike up to Everest View Hotel, one of the world’s highest-placed hotels, where we are rewarded with spectacular panoramic views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, and many other surrounding peaks. After descending back to Namche, you can explore the Sagarmatha National Park headquarters, visit the Sherpa Museum to learn about local culture and mountaineering history, or stroll through the lively market. Cozy cafés along the streets often screen documentaries about Everest and Sherpa life. Overnight at Namche Bazaar.

Today’s trek takes us to Tengboche. The trail begins with a gentle and mostly flat walk for the first couple of hours, offering pleasant views through rhododendron forests. We then descend to Phunki Tenga, a small settlement by the river. After a short rest, we start a steady and steep uphill climb that leads us to Tengboche. This is home to the famous Tengboche Monastery, also known as Dawa Choling Gompa, the largest and most important monastery in the Everest region. From here, you will enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Taboche, and Nuptse. At around 3:00 PM, the monastery opens for visitors, giving us the opportunity to observe the peaceful prayer ceremony and explore the spiritual atmosphere. Overnight stay at Tengboche.

After breakfast, we begin our descent through beautiful forest trails toward Phunki Tenga. After crossing the suspension bridge over the river, we start a steady uphill climb to Kyangjuma, enjoying scenic views along the way. From this section of the trail, we catch our final glimpse of Mount Everest before the path leads us back to Namche Bazaar. Upon arrival, you can relax, explore the lively Sherpa town, or enjoy a warm meal at a local café. Overnight stay at Namche Bazaar.

Today marks the final day of our trekking adventure. The trail descends steeply through forests and small settlements until we reach the Dudh Koshi River. After crossing several suspension bridges, we officially exit Sagarmatha National Park, leaving the high Himalayan wilderness behind. Continuing downhill, we pass through Thado Koshi, one of the lowest points of the Everest Base Camp trek. From here, we begin the final ascent toward Lukla, retracing familiar trails and reflecting on the incredible journey we’ve completed. Upon arrival in Lukla, we celebrate the successful end of our trek and enjoy a well-deserved rest. Overnight at Lukla.

After breakfast, we take an early flight back to Kathmandu, enjoying one last glimpse of the Himalayas from the air. Upon arrival, our representative will transfer you to your hotel. After a refreshing shower and some rest, you can explore Thamel, a lively area filled with shops, cafés, and souvenir stores—perfect for some last-minute shopping. In the evening, we gather for a special farewell dinner at a traditional Nepali restaurant, where you’ll enjoy authentic cuisine along with cultural dance performances to celebrate the successful completion of your adventure. Overnight at the hotel.

Today marks your final day in Nepal. A representative from Glacier Nepal Treks will transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport by private vehicle for your onward journey. As you head home, we hope you carry unforgettable memories of the Himalayas, the warm hospitality of the Sherpa people, and the incredible adventure you’ve just completed. Safe travels and see you again — home sweet home!
